5/9/08 - M Lacrosse Fifth time a charm for Eck As he finished his fourth year studying economics and playing lacrosse at Colgate University 12 months ago, Chris Eck had a decision to make. The Fairfield High grad had enjoyed a rather successful, albeit injury-riddled career with the Raiders and had to decide whether to return for a fifth year of play in Hamilton, N.Y. A torn ACL forced him to redshirt as a freshman, and broken bones in both feet had shortened two of his other seasons. In the end, Eck decided he wanted to spend one more season in the college game. 5/5/08 - Track Bucknell Javelin Thrower's Time Is Now A planned slow start to her senior season could help make for a long and successful finish to Beverly Rogers' collegiate career at Bucknell University. The graduate of Ringgold High School and native of Finleyville, Rogers is a standout javelin thrower who set Bucknell's school record last year with a mark of 154 feet, 3 inches. That record toss came at the Patriot League Championships as Rogers was the league's runner-up for a third straight season.
