The U.S. Naval Academy was chosen to win the Patriot League in a vote by the Patriot League head coaches and sports information directors in the Men's Preseason Tennis Poll.

The Midshipmen received 10 of the 14 first-place votes, and totaled 70 points overall to grab the top spot. The reigning Patriot League Tournament Champions won their first title since the 1999 season last spring, and return a solid nucleus from that group. 2007 Patriot League Coach of the Year John Officer welcomes back five letterwinners from a season ago, including the 2007 Patriot League Player of the Year and Joe Abrahamson Award (Tournament MVP) winner, junior Nate Nelms. Joining Nelms on the court will be 2007 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Ramsey Lemaich, as well as senior captain Alex James. The Mids also welcome five newcomers into the fold this year.

Coming in at the second spot in the poll was Army, who garnered the remaining four first-place votes, and 64 points overall. The Black Knights will look to get back to the top this season after falling in the Patriot League Tournament championship match last season. Head Coach Jim Poling welcomes back six letterwinners from last season, including First-Team All-Patriot League selection Phil Muhawi and Second-Team All-Patriot League selection Eddie Kang.

The Bucknell Bison finished third in the voting, tallying 48 points. The Bison will once again be led by senior Ira Reibeisen this spring. Reibeisen was named the Patriot League Player of the Month in October 2007, and was a First-Team All-Patriot League selection a season ago.

The fourth spot in the poll went to Colgate, who racked up 44 total points. The Raiders will be led by junior Martin MacIntyre, a Second-Team All-Patriot League selection from a season ago. MacIntyre was also named the Patriot League Player of the Month for September 2007.

Lehigh (31 points), Lafayette (25) and Holy Cross (12) rounded out the preseason poll.

The 2008 Patriot League Men's Tennis Championship will be held April 25-27 on the campus of Colgate University, in Hamilton, N.Y.
