The indoor track and field regular-season schedule has come to a close following a few events this past weekend. Teams will now shift their focus to this weekend's Patriot League Championship meet at Bucknell. Lafayette's Janica Austin won her thrid female rookie of the week award, while teammate Osasumwen Izevbigie earned her second female track athlete of the week award. The Navy duo of Andrew Hanko (male track) and Darryl Hunter (male field) each won their third weekly award, while Lehigh's Sarah Serwo (female track) won her first award.

Andrew Hanko, Navy Fr., Montville, N.J.
Hanko earns his third weekly award of the season, but his first career Male Track Performer of the Week award. The freshman finished third in the 3,000m race and first in the DMR at the Iowa State Classic last week. His time of 8:15.58 in the 3,000m was the fastest in school history by a freshman, and was also an IC4A-qualifying mark. He also ran the anchor leg of the distance medley team that won in an IC4A-qualifying time of 9:52.73.

Sarah Serwo, Lehigh Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.
Serwo finished third in the 800m and third in the 4x400m relay at last weekend's Lafayette/Rider Invite. The junior ran the 800m race in a time of 2:14.20, which was an ECAC-qualifying time, as well as a new school record. Serwo's 4x400m relay team also broke a school record by four seconds.

Darryl Hunter, Navy Sr., Des Moines, Iowa
Hunter earned his third weekly award of the season following a strong showing at the Iowa State Classic last weekend. The senior reached a distance of 16.99m in the shot put, which was good enough for tenth place in the competition as well as an IC4A-qualifying standard.

Osasumwen Izevbigie, Lafayette Sr., Springdale, Md.
Izevbigie finished the season on a high note with two first-place finishes at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational. The senior reached a distance of 17.23m to win the weight throw competition, and reached a distance of 13.77m to win the shot put competition. Both distances were ECAC-qualifying marks, while the distance in the weight throw tied a career-best in the event.

Janica Austin, Lafayette Fr., Trenton, N.J.
Austin wins her second consecutive and third overall rookie of the week award after another solid performance in the sprint events at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational. Austin finished sixth in the 400m dash in a time of 57.72 and also anchored the 4x400m relay team that finished in fourth with a time of 3:58.03.

Sr., Medina, Ohio
Charnigo reached an ECAC-qualifying height of 3.66m in a nonscoring meet against Loyola (Md.) last week.

It's Championship Time
Track and Field participants from all eight Patriot League schools will converge on Lewisburg, Pa. this weekend for the 2008 Patriot League Championships. NCAA Provisional Marks
Three Patriot League student-athletes have reached NCAA Provisional-qualifying marks so far during the 2007-08 indoor track and field season, as of 2.10.08. They are:
- Paul Harris, Navy - 800m (1:49.29)
- Ashley Harbin, Lafayette - Weight Throw (20.17m)
- Jacqui Charnigo, Navy - Pole Vault (3.95m)
Navy's Harris Still Among NCAA Leaders
Navy senior Paul Harris currently holds the nation's second fastest 800m time so far this season. His time of 1:49.29 at the Penn State National Open places him at No. 3 on the list, trailing Alex McClary of Arkansas and Jacob Hernandez of Texas. McClary ran the 800m in a time of 1:49.28, while Hernandez bested it this month at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational with a time of 1:49.25.

Team Notebooks
American
The Eagles were idle from competition this past week, and will return to the track this Friday at the Patriot League Championship meet.
Army
The Black Knights did not compete last week, and will return to competition at the Patriot League Championship meet this weekend.
Bucknell
The Bison were off last week, and will return to their home track at Gerhard Fieldhouse on Friday at the Patriot League Championship meet.
Colgate
The Colgate women sent runners to the Lafayette-Rider Invitational this past weekend at the Armory in New York City. Leading the charge for the Raiders was freshman Michele Miller, who finished seventh of 57 in the 400m dash and 10th of 85 in the 200m dash. Her time of 57.81 seconds in the 400m broke the Colgate school record, while her time of 25.93 seconds in the 200m set a freshman record.
Holy Cross
The Crusaders competed at the MIT Invitational this past weekend to close out their regular-season schedule. Leading the men was sophomore Tim Richards, who placed first in the mile with a time of 4:29.08. The women were paced by the efforts of junior Katharine Clifford, who finished first in the weight throw event with a distance of 14.63m. The Crusaders will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Patriot League Championships this weekend.
Lafayette
The Leopards co-hosted the Lafayette-Rider Invitational this past weekend at the Armory in New York City. Leading the charge for the Lafayette women were freshman Janica Austin in the track events and senior Osasumwen Izevbigie in the field events. Austin continued her impressive rookie season with a sixth-place finish in the 400m dash (57.72) and a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay (3:58.03). Izevbigie finished first in both the weight throw (17.23m) and shot put (13.77m) events, reaching ECAC-qualifying distances in both. For the men, senior Pete Reynolds posted an IC4A-qualifying mark in the 800m with a time of 1:53.26.
Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks traveled north to the Lafayette-Rider Invitational last weekend, and had several strong individual performances. Junior Sarah Serwo finished third of 49 in the 800m, with an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:14.20. Serwo also ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished third in a time of 3:56.68. Freshman Alexis Weiner finished 12th of 58 in the mile with a career-best time of 5:10.61. Junior Scott Robinson had a solid all-around performance as he finished fourth in the 500m (1:04.65), 16th in the 60m hurdles (8.69 seconds) and seventh in the 4x400m relay. His time in the 500m race qualified for the IC4A standard.
Navy
The Navy men traveled to the Iowa State Classic while the women hosted Loyola (Md.) in two unscored meets last week. The men competed against some of the top teams in the country at the ISU Classic, and had a total of nine IC4A marks to close out their indoor regular season. Freshman Andrew Hanko finished third in the 3,000m race with an IC4A time of 8:15.58, and also anchored the Distance Medley Relay team to a first-place finish in an IC4A time of 9:52.73. Senior Darryl Hunter finished 10th in the shot put with an IC4A-qualifying distance of 16.99m. Against Loyola (Md.), senior Vicki Moore placed first in the mile in a time of 5:06.87. Teammate Jacqui Charnigo placed first in the pole vault with yet another ECAC-qualifying height (3.66m). The Mids will travel to Bucknell for the Patriot League Championships this weekend.
