Annapolis, Md. - The Navy men earned their first team title in program history, while the Army women won one of the closest meets in League history at the 2008 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 20 NCAA Regional qualifying marks were achieved during the meet as well.

In the men's competition, it was the Mids who won with a team total of 199 points. With the win, Navy becomes just the third team in Patriot League history to win the outdoor championship, and breaks Army's run of 16-consecutive championships. The Mids also won the Indoor Track and Field Championship and the Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the same year for the first time in school history. Navy senior Darryl Hunter was named the Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet after his victories in both the shot put and discus events. Army's Jon Anderson earned the Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet honors following a victory in both the 5,000m and 10,000m races. Army freshman Alfred McDaniel was named as the Outstanding Rookie of the Meet after winning the 100m and placing second in the triple jump. McDaniel was also a member of Army's winning 4x100m relay team. Navy Head Coach Stephen Cooksey was named as the Coach of the Year for leading his squad to the title.

In the women's competition, Army brought the title back to West Point for the first time since the 1998 season. It is Army's eighth team title in program history, and it also snaps Bucknell's string of four-consecutive outdoor championships. Army's Ebony Thomas was named Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet following wins in both the 100m and 200m races. Lafayette senior Kristen Kalinowski earned Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet honors after her victories in the heptathlon and high jump. Lafayette freshman Janica Austin was recognized as the Outstanding Rookie of the Meet thanks to a victory in the 100m hurdles and a second-place finish in the 100m. Army Head Coach Jerry Quiller was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career.
