Friends and former teammates of Matt Perry's father and grandfather love getting his ear at Holy Cross basketball games and regaling him with tales -- all true -- of their triumphs.
While watching the Crusaders alongside his grandfather on the upper level of the Hart Center last winter, a nearby HC fan asked Matt, "Do you know who you're sitting with?"
Matt just laughed. "I have a pretty good idea," he said.
Matt is the oldest child of the great Ronnie Perry and one of the equally distinguished Ron Perry Sr.'s nine grandchildren. Matt's HC roots run deep, and his family's athletic legacy at the school is incomparable -- Ron and Ronnie, both of whom excelled in basketball and baseball, are the only father-son combo in the Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame. But as a sophomore star for the Crusaders baseball team, Matt is quietly making a name for himself.
