Colgate and defending Patriot League golf champion Bucknell both won their own tournaments to get off to a fast start during the month of September. The Raiders triumphed by three strokes over Bucknell at the Colgate Invitational from Sept. 8-9 in a field that also included Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh. The Bison earned payback one week later, as they placed first in the Bucknell Invitational while Colgate came in eighth. Lafayette and Lehigh also participated in the field.
Navy had a month to remember as well. The Midshipmen came in second place in the Navy Invitational, and earned a come-from-behind, 6.5-4.5, victory in the annual Army-Navy dual match.
Holy Cross also earned a top-five finish, placing fourth out of nine teams in the Dartmouth Invitational.
Colgate's Ricky Hayes earns Patriot League Golfer of the Month honors for September after winning the Colgate Invitational and finishing with a 71.0 scoring average for the month.

Golfer of the Month
Ricky Hayes, Colgate Sr., Ridgefield, Conn.
Hayes earned first-place at the Colgate Invitational, and led the Raiders to a first-place finish as a team, and tied for fifth in the Bucknell Invitational to earn September Golfer of the Month honors.
Hayes was the top golfer at the Colgate Invitational which featured 15 teams and 75 golfers. He shot a 69 on the first day, and a 71 on the second day, to finish 4-under-par, the only golfer to shoot under par. The Raiders took top honors with a team score of 597, finishing three strokes ahead of Bucknell. Hayes again led the team at the Bucknell Invitational where he finished tied for fifth with scores of 73, 72, and 70 for a 5-over-par 215. Hayes is the top scorer for the Raiders with a 71.0 scoring average. His score of 69 in round one of the Colgate Invitational matches his lowest round shot in his career.
Honorable Mention
Stuart Lindgren, Bucknell Sr., Richfield, Minn.
Lindgren played the best golf of his Bucknell career in the month of September. His low round coming into the fall season was 75, but he has shot 75 or better in six of seven rounds thus far and has a team-best 72.4 average. Lindgren shot a 1-under 69 in the first round of the Bucknell Invitational and went on to win the individual title at that tournament, while leading Bucknell to the team title. He followed up his first career victory with a tie for fourth at St. Bonaventure's Keenan Invitational a week later. He has played his last 90 holes in 4-over par.
Erich Schoen, Navy Sr., Sylvania, Ohio
Schoen was Navy's top finisher in each of its two tournaments this fall. He paced the Mids to a second-place team finish at their own tournament by turning in a 3-over par 145 to tie for seventh, and his 2-under par 69 in the final round ties as the low round by a Navy player this fall. He finished tied for 24th at the Sea Trail/Elon Invitational two weeks later with a 1-under par 215. In the annual Army-Navy dual, he partnered with freshman Josh Ziska to defeat Joey Cave and Minou Pak, 4 & 3.It was Navy's only match victory among the four 4-ball matches on Saturday.
Team Notebook
Army
Army posted an 11th-place finish at the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate and a 10th-place showing at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate before losing to Navy, 6.5-4.5, in a dual match. The Black Knights had a one-point lead over Navy going into singles play on Sunday. Army has two more matches this fall, traveling to the Skyhawk Classic (Oct. 14-16) and the Syucan Invitational (Oct. 22-23).
Bucknell
The Bison turned in a pair of impressive showings, finishing second in the Colgate Invitational before claiming the team title at the Bucknell Invitational. Senior Stuart Lindgren led the way by winning the Bucknell Invitational and earning a fourth-place finish in the Keenan Invitational. Bucknell is at the Delaware Invitational this weekend, and closes out the month at the Hofstra Invitational (Oct. 12-13) and at the Lehigh Invitational (Oct. 20-21).
Colgate
The Raiders got off to a strong start by winning the Colgate Invitational from Sept. 8-9. They followed that up with an eighth-place finish at the Bucknell Invitational, and recorded an 11th-place showing at the John Dallio Memorial. Ricky Hayes has led the way with a 71.0 scoring average. The Raiders are back in action at the ECAC Championship from Oct. 13-14, and also go to the Lehigh Invitational from Oct. 20-21.
Holy Cross
The Crusaders finished in 12th place out of 15 teams at the Colgate Invitational, and placed in fourth out of nine squads at the Dartmouth Invitational. Matt Czarnecki finished in fourth place at the Dartmouth Invitational with a score of 151. The Crusaders still have four events to play in October. They will participate in the MacDonald Cup (Oct. 6-7), ECAC Championship (Oct.13-14) and NEIGA Championship (Oct. 22-23), and also host a dual match against St. Anselm on Oct. 21.
Lafayette
Lafayette had a busy September with four events on the schedule. It finished 13th at the Colgate Invitational, 15th at the Bucknell Invitational, eighth at the Rehoboth Invitational and tied for 14th at the Cornell Invitational. Freshman Tyler Ostrovsky was the team's top golfer in three of the four tournaments, and tied for 16th at the Rehoboth Inivtiational. The Leopards travel to the Scotty Duncan Memorial this weekend, then play at Binghamton in the NBT Bank Collegiate Classic (Oct. 12), at the Muhlenberg Invitational (Oct. 15) and at the Lehigh Invitational (Oct. 20-21).
Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks had solid showings at the Colgate Invitational (8th of 15) and Bucknell Invitational (7th of 16), and also placed 12th of 16 at the Cornell Invitational. Sophomore Steve Suarez was the top Lehigh finisher at Colgate and Cornell, and posted a pair of top-25 finishes. The Mountain Hawks go to the Yale Invitational this weekend, and host the Lehigh Invitational from Oct. 20-21.
Navy
In the Star Match against Army, Navy came from behind (2.5-1.5) to win the match on Sunday, 6.5-4.5, by claiming wins in five of the seven singles matches. It was the first time in the 10-match Ryder Cup-style format that either team has come back to win after trailing the first day (4-ball matches). The Mids also placed second at the Navy Invitational, and 14th at the Sea Trail/Elon Invitational. Navy is back in action this weekend at the Scotty Duncan Memorial and will also participate in the Big Five Classic from Oct. 13-14 and Syucan Invitational from Oct. 22-23.
