Center Valley, Pa. - Colgate's Kinsey Carlson was tabbed the 2007 Patriot League Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was one of 96 student-athletes named to the Patriot League Rowing Academic Honor Roll, announced Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich Monday. Also included on this year's list were six student-athletes that achieved a 4.0 grade-point average or better in the spring semester - Bucknell's Chrissy Friedlander and Laura Roberts, Lehigh's Jacqueline Cross and Navy's Diane Cote, Darray Hunt and Catherine Ortman.

Carlson, a senior sociology/anthropology and women's studies major, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Colgate with a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average. The two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member was named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athlete in 2007. She is a member of both the Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society and Gamma Sigma Alpha National Honor Society and was the Recipient of the 2007 Colgate Women's Studies Department Award for Academic Excellence.

Athletically, Carlson rowed in the seven-seat of the Raiders' Varsity Eight boat that earned one first-place finish during the spring campaign and came in third at the 2007 Patriot League Rowing Championship.

Since rowing became a Patriot League championship sport in 2005 two student-athletes from Navy and one from Colgate have earned the Patriot League Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Previous winners of the award include Navy's Shaunnah Wark (2005) and Madeline Boe (2006).

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.

A total of 989 student-athletes were named to the Patriot League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, which includes the sports of men and women's basketball, men and women's swimming and diving, men and women's indoor track and field, baseball, golf, men and women's lacrosse, rowing, men and women's outdoor track and field, softball and men and women's tennis.
