Six Patriot League men's and women's soccer student-athletes were selected for the 2007 ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America teams. Army led the way with three selections, while Navy had two and Colgate had one.
Army's trio of honorees included First-Team member Daniel Newell and Second-Team members A.J. Glubzinski and Sarah Goss. Newell, who was named the 2007 Patriot League Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned first-team accolades after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.77 in Engineering management. Newell was also a Second-Team All-Patriot League honoree this past season. Glubzinski was named as the goalkeeper on the second team. The junior has a cumulative GPA of 4.02 in American politics with honors. Goss was one of two women's soccer players that were recognized. The Second-Team All-Patriot League performer has a 4.06 GPA in Mechanical engineering, which was good enough for second-team honors.
Navy had a pair of honorees, led by First-Team member Kari Weniger and Third-Team selection Evan Barnes. Weniger, who was a Second-Team Academic All-American in 2006, found herself on the first team this year with a 3.97 cumulative GPA in Ocean engineering. Barnes, who is a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, was named to the third team with a 3.88 GPA in Honors system engineering.
Colgate's lone representative was Third-Team selection Daniel Kerley. The junior defender has a 3.87 cumulative GPA in Economics.
To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 and be a starter or key reserve on her team.
