Army's Gerheim Named Softball Academic All-American

May 31, 2007

Center Valley, Pa. - Army senior Lindsey Gerheim represented the Patriot League on the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Softball Academic All-American list as a Third-Team member.

Gerheim batted .394 on the season for the second-best average in the Patriot League, while scoring 24 runs and batting in 30. The senior shortstop tied for the Patriot League led in hits with 61, including 11 doubles, one triple and seven home runs. The four-time All-Patriot League performer closed out her career ranked ninth in hits (194) in Patriot League history and tied for fifth in home runs (20).

Academically, Gerheim graduated from West Point with a degree in management and carried a 3.55 GPA through the fall semester of this year. The newly commissioned second lieutenant was selected to the All-Senior All-America Team (First-Team) in the inaugural Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for softball, finishing second overall in a nationwide vote of coaches, media and fans.

Gerheim, a four-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection, is the seventh Patriot League student-athlete to earn Academic All-American status this year. Previously named Academic All-Americans for the Patriot League in 2006-07 are Army's Nick Hill (baseball), Bucknell's Shannon Curd (women's soccer) and David Frisbey (football), Lafayette's James Conrad (baseball) and Navy's Lizzie Barnes (women's soccer) and Kari Weniger (women's soccer).
