Adlam Represents Colgate at U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Open Tryouts

Feb. 28, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colgate University junior Jackie Adlam (Mill Valley, Calif.) was one of 113 athletes from around the country invited to participate in the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Open Tryouts at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs over Feb. 22-24. The participants will be notified by March 11 as to who will be invited to train with the U.S. Women's National Team or compete as a part of the USA A2 Team at the USA Open Championships in Atlanta during the week of May 18-28.

"She did Colgate proud," head coach Ryan Baker said. "I was fortunate enough to be there with her and witness just how well she represented herself and our program. Jackie was able to play with and stand out amongst the nation's best. It was an unforgettable three days for the both of us."

"Playing with the top athletes in the nation, competing for that one spot to go to the Olympics was truly eye opening, and revived my love of the game," Adlam said. "Seeing some of the top positions from the elite programs was an honor. Simply being there, at that training center, was a remarkable experience and the chance to observe the facilities and see the team train was a dream in and of itself, and one that I was so lucky to have had this past weekend."

A third-year libero, Adlam is a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. She is the first Colgate player to earn consecutive player of the year honors. The anchor on Colgate's defense each of her three seasons, she led the league in digs with 4.63 per game and has led Colgate each of her three seasons. The Marin Academy product broke the Colgate career record for digs this season on Sept. 21 with a single-match record 31 digs against Lafayette. She pushed her career digs total to 1,597 at the end of the season and needs just 14 more to break the Patriot League career mark. Adlam holds the top three single-season digs performances in Colgate history and holds the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 spots in Patriot League single-season history.

The Raiders closed out their memorable 2007 season with a 17-13 overall mark, advancing to the Patriot League Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2000. Baker and his staff helped Colgate to its first winning season since 1996 and the most wins in a season since 1999.
